Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a system of healing that encompasses your entire being in order to achieve health and wellbeing. When in balance, your body is in perfect health. However, due to many environmental stressors, diet, lifestyle and other factors, your body can easily fall out of balance allowing for disease to occur.

This happens because the qi or “life force” that flows throughout our body can become disrupted.  Qi circulates throughout our body along well defined pathways, energetically connecting physiological systems and internal organs.  Therefore any interruption in this flow creates an imbalance and may result in pain or illness.

Acupuncture involves inserting extremely fine, sterile needles into specific points on your body.  It produces therapeutic effects by stimulating your body’s own repair mechanism therefore promoting the healing process.  Acupuncture improves circulation while bringing important nutrients throughout your body.

Commonly asked questions:

Does acupuncture hurt?

No.  The needles are about the width of a single strand of hair so very little sensation is felt.  Most people find the effects to be calming and relaxing.

Are the needles used more than once?

No.  I only use sterile, disposable needles that are discarded after each use.

Does acupuncture work?

Yes.  Acupuncture has been used for over 2500 years and has demonstrated positive results.  It continues to be researched and studied to illustrate the efficacy.
